The purposes of lip augmentation are to eliminate asymmetry, if any, on the lips, to provide the balance between the lower and upper lips, to clarify the lip contour, to regulate the aesthetics of the smile, to give volume to the lips that have lost their volume.

Things to consider before lip augmentation?

If you have frequent cold sores and any medication you use, please inform your doctor before the procedure appointment. You should stop alcohol intake at least 3 days before the application. Since substances such as green tea, ginseng, gingko, garlic, omega 3, vitamin C, vitamin E, and echinacea may reduce clotting and cause bleeding and bruising, you should take a break for 2 weeks.

How is lip filler applied?

 Before the application, the patient's expectation from the filling application is evaluated in detail. After the examination of the lips, they are anesthetized with anesthetic cream and cleaned with antiseptic solutions. Afterwards, filling is applied with a needle or cannula (a type of blunt needle). The patient does not feel any pain during the procedure. After the filling application, it takes an average of 15 days for the shape of the lip to fully settle.

What should be considered after lip augmentation?

  • You should apply ice for 15 minutes every 2 hours to reduce swelling and bruising that may occur after the application. Continue the application for 24 hours. However, swelling and bruises that may occur will disappear within a few days.
  • Make-up should not be applied for 24 hours.
  • Heavy sports and sun exposure should be avoided for 24 hours.
  • Very cold and very hot foods should not be consumed for 3 days.
  • Hot bath, Turkish bath, sauna, solarium should not be entered for 3 days.
  • You should not enter the pool for 3 days due to the risk of infection.
  • Alcohol, cigarettes, blood thinners such as aspirin, painkillers, green tea, garlic, fish oil, vitamin C, vitamin E, gingko, ginseng, echinacea should not be consumed for 3 days.
  • Lips should not be massaged for 3 weeks.
  • Especially hard kissing should be avoided for 3 weeks.

How long is the permanence of lip fillers?

Lip filling is permanent for 8-12 months. The duration of permanence may vary from person to person. Permanence may be shorter after the first filling application, but the permanence time is longer in repetitive applications.
